They have been relentless when it comes to advocating for the health, safety, and dignity of older adults from all socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
The horrific, exploding number of deaths in Pennsylvania nursing homes from coronavirus called for transparency and public disclosure about COVID-19 in each facility, including the number of cases among residents and staff, fatalities, staffing levels, and availability of PPE and testing kits. It was a tragedy that was and is continuing to unfold, and one that even the dire figures that are known only partially capture. Sage took on CARIE’s mission—to get the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office to establish a COVID-19 response team, establish distinct COVID-19-only facilities, provide adequate PPE and testing, issue guidance for facilities to communicate with transparency and timeliness, support caregivers, and ensure that the needs of people with Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders are addressed.
And that was just a start. We created narratives, messages, and stories that connected with CARIE’s audiences and motivated them to action. We also developed a communications strategy for PAVE, CARIE’s victim assistance program. Sage looks forward to a lasting connection with CARIE.
